We find that most Shih Tzus wear the Small (red) and most labs are quite comfortable with the Large (purple).
In our experience, the boots tend to run smaller than you would think you need. It doesn't matter how much your dog weighs or necessarily what breed s/he is, but how big the feet are. Also if your dog's nails are longish, you should consider the next size up.
12 boots per package. While these are disposable, they shouldn't be considered single use. Yes, they will wear out but that will depend upon your dog's toenails, walking/running style, terrain, etc.
